Effectively anticipate supply and demand fluctuations in the gas market
The area around Epe in Germany is known for salt excavation. As a result of these excavations, underground cavities have been created. These cavities are well suited for storing the surplus of gas that is produced in the summer for use during the winter period. Gas from the public gas network must first be raised up to a higher pressure with compressors, after which it is stored in these cavities. The existing compression station at Epe has been extended so that Nuon can effectively anticipate the periodic supply and demand fluctuations in the gas market. Iv-Offshore & Energy obtained this project together with its Joint Venture partner VSB and was also responsible for engineering, procurement and construction management.
