Lock Limmel

Lock Limmel; Gateway to the Maasroute

The 'New Limmel Lock' project involves the design, construction, financing and 30 years of maintenance of a new barrage lock which includes a road bridge and will replace the almost 100-year-old existing lock. Part of the work within the project 'New Limmel Lock' focuses on the design of the new barrage lock. As the existing pillars situated in the middle of the canal will no longer be present, broader ships will be able to pass through the lock without widening the canal. The barrage lock will also hold back river water in the event of flooding. Iv-Infra designed the steel lift gate of the new lock and the steel concrete bridge gate to the Maasroute.
