> Panama: a real challenge!
We are seeking young and senior professionals for the Panama Third Set of Locks project. The Panamanian authorities have stated that they wish to expand the Panama Canal for economic reasons.
At its narrowest point the old canal is 33.5 metres wide and is therefore only just accessible to Panamax ships. Post-Panamax ships are unable to navigate through the existing canal. The new locks will in fact be able to take Post-Panamax ships from 2014.
The projects started in September 2009 and the locks must be ready to take shipping in 2014.
