Age: 40
You work as an IT project leader, what exactly does that involve?
As a project leader I am involved with different activities, which makes my job both varied and interesting. I am responsible for the management and maintenance of computer software and business applications. I am also involved in projects concerning system implementation. In addition to this, I run training courses for employees. The backbone of my job is that I continually study process flows in the office and devise ways to improve and streamline those processes through the use of information technology.
Why did you come to work with Iv-Groep?
I started here as an intern and stayed on because I enjoyed the work. In the beginning I spent a lot of time programming and developing software. Later, the IT department was split into two: Iv-Software and the IT department. I opted to work with the latter. Incidentally,
Iv-Software has undergone tremendous development in recent years; one example being the development of Octopus, a standard application for handling governmental petitions.
Is it important for you to know about technology?
I studied technical business administration and I have a technical background, although not quite the same as that of the technologists who work here. The big advantage is that I do speak their language and therefore I am able to understand the office workflows. I perform my tasks from a business perspective, but with a technical flavour.
What gives you job satisfaction?
My goal is to provide the best information technology possible to the internal organisation so that everyone can do their job efficiently and effectively. This may sound like a generalisation, but can be seen in the training I provide. One of my tasks is to train new employees on the use of our project management system. I strive to provide practical and clear assistance, so that they can handle their administrative duties efficiently.
Do you enjoy working with lv-Groep?
After 17 years I am still very happy here. My field is very interesting and lv-Groep is always open to new developments. One small but nice detail is that decisions are often made quickly. Changes are not held up due to a long decision making process and this is beneficial to our department.
"My job is very interesting and Iv-Groep is always open to new ideas and developments."
