The Panama Canal Authority (Autoridad del Canal de Panamá ACP) has contracted a consortium called GUPC to construct the two locks in the new Panama Canal. Iv-Groep is a member of engineering group C.I.C.P., a subcontractor of GUPC, which is responsible for the design of the locks.

A consortium consisting of Iv-Infra bv, bv Advin and Tauw bv has concluded a cooperation agreement with the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management (Rijkswaterstaat) to provide engineering services from 2009 to 2012.

The agreement, signed 20 July, renews the engineering master contract for 2007-2009. The renewed cooperation agreement has a nationwide scope.

'De Vernufteling' – the most prestigious Dutch award for innovative engineering – was presented to Iv-Groep at a presentation ceremony in Hilversum's Mediapark on Wednesday, 10 June 2009.

The award is an initiative of professional body KIVI NIRIA, technology magazine 'De Ingenieur' and industry association ONRI. The public chose the unique 'Rotating Tower' as the most ingenious project.

Iv-Consult agreed with Italian architect Dr. David Fisher in April 2008 that it would develop a prototype 'Rotating Tower' in association with Bosch Rexroth of Boxtel, the Netherlands. The Florence-based architect designed the Rotating Tower with storeys capable of rotating independently of each other, which means the building will constantly change shape.
