Iv-Infra won the contract for the RINK 2010 project in January. RINK is a Dutch acronym for risk analysis of wet civil engineering works. The contract covers sixteen assets (dams, locks and bridges) that are located in the corridor of the Meuse River and managed by the Limburg regional department of the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management.
The work includes drawing up an integral RAMS analysis. The changing conditions – such as new standards, heavier ships/propeller radii and higher river outflows – and the ageing of civil engineering works already dozens of years old will be identified by means of comprehensive inspections and structural analyses. The RAMS analyses will serve as input for the management of assets by the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management.
Iv-Infra carried out the RINK pilot project for seven assets in 2009 (dams, locks, bridges, pumping stations). The knowledge and experience obtained from the pilot project will be readily usable for this new contract. Another seven assets might be added to the present scope of 16 assets.
