Rotating tower
Rotating tower

The Rotating Tower concept is based on a design that is being used to build various towers in some of the world's major cities. From a concrete core, all levels can rotate 360 degrees, repeatedly changing the silhouette of the tower.

The levels, for which the primary supporting structure and fastenings to the concrete core are made by Iv-Consult and its partner Bosch Rexroth, must each be able to move freely but without becoming separate entities. Rotation is controllable at each individual level.

The construction of the towers is innovative for a project of this size. The aim is initially to build the tower in various sections and construct it on-site. Besides helping to improve the quality of the product, this approach will considerably reduce construction time.

Using a prototype consisting of two full-scale levels, built in 2009 and around 22 meters high, the focus will be on identifying potential complications and future enhancements.
