Housing corporation Servatius Wonen & Vastgoed commissioned the design of 'Campus Maastricht'. This new development will provide quality housing for students of the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands. The plan includes building a complex with a tower 65 meters tall plus sleeping quarters for more than 500 students and some larger apartments, offices for start-up companies and a brand new sports complex to replace the existing one in Randwijck. The structures will give the project a state-of-the-art appearance.
The challenging design of this project came from the well-known Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava. The design takes into account the possibility of earthquakes, even though they are rare in the Netherlands. Iv-Consult is mapping all special loading cases and analysing risks with a view to preventing structural collapse. It adds up to an ambitious project!
