This new generation high-yield coal-fired power station is being built at Karlsruhe (Germany) in 2009 and 2010. It was designed by Alstom Power Boilers GmbH and commissioned by German energy supplier EnBW.
The heart of the power station consists of a square boiler suspended in a heavy and rigid boiler support. The boiler house that was constructed hangs from this support and houses the waste gas flue, all ancillaries, piping, steps, walkways, etc.
Iv-Consult designed and developed the boiler house, calculating the main steel, secondary steel and principal detailing. In the evenings the 3D Tekla X-steel model is automatically updated and exchanged with the reference models of the piping and other equipment. This assures that all components are finely-tuned to each other. Many processes are partly automated due to the large quantity of information.
