The waste recycling plant of VuilAfvoerMaatschappij (VAM) at Wijster in the Netherlands treats the domestic waste of 2.5 million people. A waste separation plant recovers more than 50% of the waste. The rest is used to fuel three furnaces that generate steam for the production of electricity. The slag from the furnace is used for road construction. A gas treatment unit was installed to comply with the environment rules for smoke emissions.
Iv-Consult produced the final and detailed designs of the steel structures and the prefab concrete floors of the plant.
