Through the co-operation agreement with Kalmar Industries, Iv-Consult has engineered a vast number of so called ’Ship To Shore‘ (STS) container cranes for ports throughout Europe (Rotterdam, Antwerp, Hamburg, Rouen). Also ports outside Europe have opted for Kalmar cranes and these cranes were consequently also engineered by Iv-Consult.

Within such agreement with Kalmar to engineer this type of crane, Kalmar as main contractor is responsible for the overall design choices and the basic specification of the crane, while Iv-Consult prepares the final design, the detailed design down to workshop drawings and writes the erection, operation and maintenance manuals for the units.

As ships are getting bigger, often the existing cranes in a port do not have enough outreach and/or height to cope with these new vessels and consequently modification of existing cranes or new cranes are required. Iv-Consult can investigate the options and possibilities for an upgrade and assist your company in making the right choices as it has done on previous occasions for other ports.

As a specialist in the crane business, Iv-Consult is often asked to investigate crane damage and prepare a proper repair plan in order to improve crane availability.
Besides this Iv-Consult did numerous studies for several clients for crane improvement and/or crane modification.
