OBA stands for 'Overslag Bedrijf Amsterdam', a transhipment and stevedoring company established more than 50 years ago.
Ocean-going vessels bring eight million tonnes of coal each year to OBA's site in Amsterdam's western port area where it is transhipped to inland vessels and freight trains.
OBA tranships animal feed as well as coal. The fodder is stored in on-site terminals. OBA also stores and tranships barytes, bentonite, talc and scrap.
This crane was designed in 1976 by the same people who are still highly valued members of Iv-Consult's design team. Since its establishment Iv-Consult has been involved in the crane's maintenance and inspection and has designed some upgrades.
The crane, now more than 30 years old, is still performing to specification without any major problems, which bears witness to the quality of Iv-Consult's design.
Iv-Consult maintains high standards in its design of bulk handling cranes and associated equipment like bunkers and transport systems.
